Biography

Brittany Burrows is a portraiture artist of Nomlaki-Wintun and Pomo descent. Primarily working with pencil, Brittany embraces a variety of creative mediums, but it is her passion for hyper-realistic art that drives her practice. The challenge and joy of bringing both human and non-human faces to life through her art is something that deeply excites her.

Rooted in her culture, Brittany's art is heavily influenced by the teachings and traditions of her people. Her spirit, always eager to learn, draws inspiration from her heritage, and she is motivated by the unwavering support of her 10-year-old son, who constantly reminds her to be confident in her abilities and to share her work. Brittany understands that her artistic talent carries a responsibility—to use it in a way that uplifts and honors her community.

Through her work, Brittany hopes to share the beauty of her people and culture with the world. Each piece she creates is infused with love, pride, and a deep connection to spirit. Her art is not just a reflection of her creativity but an act of resistance against the erasure of her people. In reclaiming their visibility, Brittany’s work reasserts their power and brings attention to the richness of Indigenous identities—whether through the faces of humans or the spirit of the non-human world.
